Unit 25: When I Do and When I’ve Done, If and When

A. Використання “when I do” і “when I’ve done”

1. Коли використовувати “when I do”

“When I do” використовується для опису майбутніх дій, але з Present Simple після when.

  • I’ll call you again later when I arrive.
Не кажемо: when I will arrive.

  • We’ll go out when it stops raining.

2. Коли використовувати “when I’ve done”

  • Can I have the newspaper when you’ve finished with it?

  • When I’ve phoned Kate, we can go out.

3. Порівняння “when I do” і “when I’ve done”

“When I do” “When I’ve done”
When I call Kate, I’ll ask her… When I’ve called Kate, we can go out.

B. Інші слова: while, before, after, until, as soon as

Present Simple

  • Don’t forget to lock the door when you go out.

  • What are you going to do while I’m away?

Present Perfect

  • Wait until I’ve come back.

  • You’ll feel better after you’ve had something to eat.

C. If and When

1. Коли використовувати “if”

  • I’ll be angry if it happens again.

  • If it is raining this evening, I won’t go out.

2. Коли використовувати “when”

  • I’m going out later. When I go out, I’ll get some bread.

  • When you are here again, you must come and see us.

3. Порівняння “if” і “when”

“If” “When”
If I go out, I’ll get some bread. When I go out, I’ll get some bread.

When I do We’ll go out when it stops raining.
When I’ve done When I’ve finished my homework, we can watch TV.
If If it rains, I won’t go out.
When When it rains, I’ll stay inside.
