A. Конструкції “there’s no point in -ing”, “it’s no use -ing”, “it’s no good -ing”

Ці вирази використовуються, коли хочемо сказати, що немає сенсу робити щось.

Приклади:

  • There’s no point in having a car if you never use it.
    (Немає сенсу мати машину, якщо ти нею ніколи не користуєшся.)
  • There was no point in waiting any longer, so we left.
    (Не було сенсу чекати далі, тому ми пішли.)
  • It’s no use worrying about what happened. There’s nothing you can do about it.
    (Немає сенсу хвилюватися про те, що сталося. Ти нічого не можеш з цим зробити.)
  • It’s no good trying to persuade me. You won’t succeed.

Зверни увагу:

  • Ми говоримо “there’s no point in…”, але “what’s the point of…?”
    • There’s no point in having a car.
    • What’s the point of having a car if you never use it?

B. Конструкції “it’s worth -ing”, “it’s not worth -ing”

Ці вирази означають, що щось варто чи не варто робити.

Приклади:

  • It’s a nice town. It’s worth spending a few days there.

  • Our flight was very early in the morning, so it wasn’t worth going to bed.

D. Конструкції “spend/waste time doing something”

Ці вирази використовуються, коли говоримо про витрачений час.

Приклади:

  • He spent hours trying to repair the clock.

  • I waste a lot of time doing nothing.
    (Я марную багато часу, нічого не роблячи.)

Ми використовуємо -ing після “spend/waste time”.

E. Конструкція “(be) busy doing something”

Цей вираз використовується, коли людина зайнята чимось.

Приклади:

  • She said she couldn’t meet me. She was too busy doing other things.

F. Конструкція “go + -ing” (про активності та спорт)
